The first thing my ED at Goldman Sachs said when I sat down was, “We don’t want you to leave, we thought you wanted to!”
Right. I was already beyond surprised. The last time we sat down “for a chat,” it was a very different conversation indeed.
A long campaign of bullying and backstabbing from a jealous colleague almost succeeded in getting me pushed out of my job.
I ended up staying - and even getting promoted the next year - because of strong support from my (very senior) stakeholders. I never imagined that my 80 hour weeks, constant travel, and focus on getting tangible results for the people I served, would end up saving my job.
How did I end up like this? How could I have handled the people and the situation better?
Obviously I got one part of the equation very wrong, and the other part of the equation very right.
I’ve always had a fascination with what makes people tick.
What motivates, moves, inspires.
What people are thinking and feeling.
How they make decisions….

I wasn’t just curious to understand these things, they had been vital for my survival.
Surviving toxic bosses, vindictive co-workers, abusive spouses, and an overbearing mom.
So I studied…
How to survive in this world?
How to be successful, to reach beyond what I was born with, what I was given - when at best, I was only ever average?
Today I help high-achievers like you become influential leaders. To not get caught up in complicated people situations that hold you back from getting ahead. To set you up for success and have the clarity to know what to target and the exact steps to take so you get there more efficiently and in a way that honors who you are. And to inspire you to look beyond the level of your wallet and the job title listed on your business card to know exactly what moves your heart, your spirit so you can achieve in a way that is meaningful to you.

And I haven’t even mentioned your personal life yet.
Because work impacts how you show up in your marriage, your family, your kids.
And when things aren’t working out so well at home, that impacts how you show up at work.
Not to mention pivotal career decisions impacting your finances, where you live, schooling.
And when things come to a head, divorces can be messy and expensive. And what about the kids?
I get it - I’ve been divorced twice, once with kids.
And so sometimes, with some clients, I help them deal with the messy intersection between their work and family life.
Sometimes, life gets a bit messy.
And that’s okay.
Sometimes, you don’t want to see
And that’s okay.
Because you’re only human.

And because no one needs to change.
You’re fine the way you are.
Only when you’re unhappy with the situation you’re in now.
Only when you are ready to take the steps and do the work to create a different reality - one that fulfills you - then, we can talk.
Most people don’t want to change.
Most people don’t want to put in the work to make the change happen.
And most people don’t want to peek under the covers to see how they contributed to creating their own unhappiness.
And that’s okay.
Because we are all only human.
Only when I owned up to me, could I begin my journey to change what I didn’t want.
By changing how I showed up.

My journey is to become the person I admire, instead of spending my life admiring others. And sharing my journey to inspire others so they could do the same.

Because really, what’s the point of being miserable all together?
This journey is not for most people.
If you want to join me, as my clients have done
If you are ready to stop being “most people”
And do something that actually works
Then, and only then, reach out.
I know it’s not easy to take this step (it wasn’t easy for me either)
And I know it takes a lot of courage (I needed a lot too).
But I also know it’s do-able.
It can be done - because I’ve done it, I keep doing it, and my clients are also proof that this works.
I’ve spent a lifetime studying how to be a happier human being.
I’ve turned my pain into something valuable to the people I serve.
And now I join hands with leaders like you to co-create a career and life you love.

I love my work and believe in propelling both your career and life forward. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. When working as an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs I saw how the stress of dealing with career-defining decisions affected even the most seasoned leaders.
I’ve also founded my own skincare brand where I was forced to continue learning difficult lessons in communication, leadership, people politics, and keeping a level head in the face of constant uncertainty.
And through my work as a Global Speaker, Leadership Coach, and Co-Founder of The One Human Institute, I’ve traveled the world helping well over 50,000 high-achievers become influential leaders. My clients include BlackRock, HSBC, UBS, Shiseido, and the government of Hong Kong. I also regularly speak at top-ranked MBA and EMBA programmes.
I’m a behavioral science enthusiast and mindfulness practitioner, and am professionally trained to “read the invisible” emotions of the face having learned Dr. Paul Ekman’s groundbreaking work on Emotional Intelligence, Micro Expressions, and Lie Detection taught to the FBI and CIA.
I did this all while surviving (and escaping) 2 abusive marriages and a difficult childhood. I worked intensely with my spiritual mentor, and am now “third time lucky” having created a marriage and family with my partner and CEO Edward.
I’m fascinated by humans and find myself easily relating to any audience as I speak 5 languages and have lived and worked in Canada, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and China. I’m a proud mom to 2 teenagers. And I believe that you can build a successful career and life you love while staying true to yourself and without losing your soul.
So if you’re still reading here’s the truly boring part of me that people like to look at (and you’re supposed to be impressed).
It’s a list of some of the things I’ve done, but what I do doesn’t define me. Who I am now and what I’m becoming, that’s me.
